Buy High Sell Low

Running an eBay business can be almost as exciting as the stock market. There is a time and a season for selling and there is a time for buying. Sometimes those time frames overlap, but generally speaking, it is convenient for a business owner to have distinct times in which to do each.

For many eBay sellers, the summer months prove to be the time to buy. There is a lull in activity on eBay but as sellers we can turn that around into a great time to pick up inexpensive product for resale. Just as sure as the sun will rise again, the buying will pick back up. We don't want to take the summer off and play (although we all need to play some) but we want to prepare for our busy season around the holidays before that rush hits.

Where to buy ----

Arbitrage (which is acquiring an item on one venue for a lesser value and reselling it somewhere else or the same place for a higher value) is easily done in the summer months on eBay, Yahoo auctions, Amazon's auctions and a few others. It's a good idea to run a Google search to find these more obscure less known websites in which to buy so the competition is lower than it already is during the slow months.

Here is a great tips webpage for yard sale buyers -

Check your local auctions. There are live auctions, estate auctions, and storage unit auctions. The storage unit auctions are normally listed in your newspaper under the announcements column.

Don't forget to glance through the online announcement list called Craigslist. It's a wonderful way to both pick up inventory and list 'in search of' ads.

Local storage container auctions. Check the personals in your local paper or just simply call the storage companies nearest you to see if and when they hold auctions. If they don't inquire as to how they rid unpaid for storage. We have bid and won several containers. This is an excellent way to obtain merchandise and quickly. There are several things to be aware of so you may want to pick up the authoritative and very thorough ebook on the subject. Storage Auction Momma; Turning Storage Auction Bargains into Online Gold

As you peruse auctions, listings, Craigslist, storage container auctions, estate sales and finally garage sales be sure to stay cognizant of the future market not just today's market.

A major mistake to avoid ----

One of my many mistakes as a buyer for my business is being short sighted. I have a tendency to think if it doesn't resale for the price I want in the next few weeks it isn't worth the bother of picking it up. This is a mistake especially when you have room for inventory. As the stock market dictates a buy low and sell high mentality so does the wholesale - retail business. We need to keep in mind that holding inventory that is sure to go up in value is an investment and will return significantly if we are patient and wise in our listing timing.
